چکیده
ABSTRACT Objective 5-Hydroxytryptophan is the precursor compound of serotonin biosynthesis. The oral absorption close to 100% and, unlike serotonin, it crosses blood-brain barrier freely. has been used as a food supplement for many years treat anxiety and depression. Recent studies have shown that suppresses pro-inflammatory mediators effective in some inflammatory diseases, such arthritis allergic asthma. However, role supplements on acute peripheral inflammation not investigated yet. In this study, vivo anti-inflammatory activity was evaluated with carrageenan-induced paw oedema test mice. Methods For investigation antiinflammatory activity, single doses (1.5, 5 20mg/kg) were given mice 1.5 hours prior carrageenan test. chronic same administered daily two weeks 14th day. To induce inflammation, 0.01mL 2% injected into paws Results Supplementation significantly reduced dose-independent manner which irrespective duration exposure (per cent inhibition experiments 35.4%, 20.9%, 24.0%, per 29.5%, 35.3%, 40.8% 1.5, 5, 20mg/kg, respectively). Conclusion Our findings demonstrate first time 5-HTP potential suppressing measures inflammation. It suggested that, apart from several diseases where believed play an important role, including depression, patients conditions may also benefit 5-HTP.

Objective(s):Recently anti-inflammatory effects of antidepressants have been demonstrated. Venlafaxine belongs to newer antidepressants with serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibition property. The pain alleviating properties of venlafaxine in different pain models such as neurogenic pain, diabetic neuropathy, and fibromyalgia have been demonstrated. Anti-inflammatory effects of venlafaxine a...

The present study was designed to explore the anti-inflammatory effect of fluvoxamine, as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) anti-depressant, on carrageenan-induced paw edema in more details. At first, fluvoxamine was administered intra-peritoneally (2.5, 12.5, 25 and 50 mg Kg-1) 30 min before the subplantar injection of carrageenan. Fluvoxamine was also injected intra-peritoneally...

متن کاملTRPA1 Contributes to the Acute Inflammatory Response and Mediates Carrageenan-Induced Paw Edema in the Mouse
Transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 (TRPA1) is an ion channel involved in thermosensation and nociception. TRPA1 is activated by exogenous irritants and also by oxidants formed in inflammatory reactions. However, our understanding of its role in inflammation is limited. Here, we tested the hypothesis that TRPA1 is involved in acute inflammatory edema. The TRPA1 agonist allyl isothiocyanate (...
